a dozen bees postmortem!

Intro
Firstly, thank you for 6 downloads within 24 hrs! I didn't expect people to download my zine at all, to be honest, since I assumed that itch.io is more for games to begin with. Without further rambling, let's get into the post ^^
First time making a zine
Yes, I've been waiting to make one myself, ever since I missed a library workshop about making zines. It's pretty fun, although it felt rushed, and I got inspiration from reading the zines of other people in the Sunday Zine Club Jam over here. Before that, I felt intimidated by polished-looking, visually stunning or very creative types of zines, so I was worried about making something imperfect and terrible. What I liked about those zines was how real and honest they are, and it made me feel more comfortable about expressing myself (and my love for bees) on paper.
Still, my printer at home isn't working at the moment and I'm dying to print it out and hold it on my hand physically...
Shoutout to this tutorial: how to print + fold a zine from one sheet of paper (w/ Canva) on youtube for helping me understand how the pages are ordered and how to make a zine design in Canva.
Process
I used Canva because it's what I'm used to. The photographs are taken by me. I doodled the bee on the cover, the side flying bee in the middle of the pages and the floral art on the last page. For the rest of the art on the other pages (eg. plant, flower doodles), I used the clipart on Canva and it blended in nicely since I used simple, black and white images. I just wanted to give the zine a fun, 'hand-drawn' feel and to give the spotlight to the vibrantly colored bee photographs.
Outro
Making this zine is pretty fun and I have a couple of ideas for more, so stay tuned :D
